WebSpeaker Product Update: March 2026

This is a retrospective summary of what we implemented during March 2026.

Automatic scheduled content refresh

Until now, a project’s indexed content was only as fresh as the last manual crawl: pages changed, prices updated, and documentation moved on, but the widget kept answering from whatever it had captured at setup time. In March we added scheduled project scraping, so a project’s website is re-crawled automatically on an ongoing schedule instead of once. You no longer need to remember to trigger a re-crawl after every content change. The benefit is simple: the widget’s answers stay in sync with what is actually published on your site, without any manual upkeep.

Onboarding with widget install detection

Setting up WebSpeaker used to end at “copy this script tag,” with no confirmation that the widget was actually live on your site. That left new users unsure whether setup had worked or something was missing. We built a guided onboarding flow that walks a new project from signup through installation, and added detection that recognizes when the widget script has actually loaded on your page. Instead of guessing, you get a clear signal that your installation succeeded. You can read more about the full flow on our onboarding use case page. The result is a much clearer path from creating an account to having a working, live widget on your site.

Widget placement control

The chat bubble previously appeared in one fixed spot, which occasionally clashed with other floating elements already present on a page, such as cookie banners or other widgets, and sometimes ended up hidden behind them. We added configurable bubble position and z-index, so you can choose where the widget sits on the page and make sure it renders above or below other elements as needed. The benefit is that the widget now fits into any existing page layout instead of forcing your layout to work around it.

Together, March’s work keeps indexed content current automatically, makes setup success visible from the very first steps, and lets the widget adapt to your page instead of the other way around. We will keep sharing what we build, month by month.
